Bible Reading Plans

"If you believe what you like in the Gospel, and reject what you don't like, it is not the Gospel you believe, but yourself."
—St. Augustine

It is always best to drink at the well and not from the tank. You shall find that reading the Word of God for yourselves, reading it rather than notes upon it, is the surest way of growing in grace. Drink of the unadulterated milk of the Word of God, and not of the skim milk, or the milk and water of man's word."

Purity: enter the narrow gate

Purity: free of that which spoils.
"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

You have eternal value as God's creation. So valuable, in fact, that God sent Jesus to die for your sins.

But be warned, the world will try and devalue you by spoiling your purity.

Property Rights: Un-lawful Federal 'ownership' of land, BLM; FBI executes LaVoy Finicum

January 26, 2016. Another sad day for America.

Western states ranchers and freemen were protesting federal government (mis)management of State's land (Ref. 3). No burning, no looting, no riots in the streets like Ferguson, Boston, or Occupy Wall Street. Yet, the FBI (aka Federal Bureau of Intimidation, aka Red Coats, aka Storm Troopers), has arrested the leadership, wounded one, and killed one! (see LaVoy Finicum tribute below)

Once again the FBI is being used as the Hammer of Oppression. (Ref. 1, 2)

Update: now the FBI has let criminal Hillary Clinton walk free without charge!!
"On July 5, 2016, FBI Director James Comey [won 2nd place Orwell Award], for exonerating Hillary Clinton’s repeated gross national security violations, claiming that she and her staff were merely '…extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.' In effect, he exonerated her (declining to refer her for prosecution) by detailing her guilt in these crimes." (Ref. 6)

Hope: Christ in you, the hope of glory!

I was feeling great sorrow and distress over the turmoil in our nation and world. It is obvious God has been pulling away as we have been pushing him out. The acts of terror, racial and police violence, and political uncertainty and division.

But, Christ is in me, the hope of glory! (Colossians 1:27)

In my Scripture reading and meditation today:

1. I prayed from the Psalms "I am weary from grief; strengthen me through Your word." (Psalm 119:28)

Virtue: Ordinary Virtues from "The Lord of the Rings" part 1

Virtue: Moral Goodness. Moral excellence; righteousness.

"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good."
Romans 12:9

Simplicity

Think of Frodo and the simple contentment of the Hobbits. (1)

Contentment: choosing, in faith, satisfaction with one's situation (2)

Missions: The Answer to the Worlds Problems: Jesus! We are all Missionaries!

With all the troubles in the world this year of our Lord 2016, we need to remember that the only answer is Jesus!

"And Jesus said to them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." Luke 10:1-20

Pray that more "workers," Jesus' followers, will take up the great commission and share the hope of the good news of Jesus with a hurting world!

Favoritism: All Equal Under God. All Lives Matter. James 2:1-13

"My brothers, show no partiality [favoritism] as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory." James 2:1

Rich or poor, clean or dirty, black, white, or brown skinned, God created us all in His image!

Ephesios 2:10

Ephesios 2:10
"ipsius enim sumus factura creati in Christo Iesu in operibus bonis quae praeparavit Deus ut in illis ambulemus"

ipsius | enim | sumus | factura
his | for | we are | workmanship

creati | in | Christo | Iesu
created | in | Christ | Jesus

in | operibus | bonis | quae | praeparavit | Deus
in | works | good | which | prepared | God

ut | in | illis | ambulemus
should | in | them | walk

Justice: Law is King - Lex Rex

All, whether king, president, rich, poor, famous, or commoner are accountable to the law.

When Jesus said “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s,” He was making clear that the civil government has limitations. The State is not the “be all and end all.” It cannot declare just anything to be its own. They cannot make up law as they go, nor change the immutable laws of God. The authority they have is delegated to them from God – it is not autonomously held...
