An Appeal to Heaven

"An Appeal to Heaven"

As The Constitution Party of Illinois starts campaign season, I would like us, as prayer partners, to make a concerted effort to "appeal to heaven."

This was a slogan used on the flags of the first sea cruisers commissioned by George Washington personally before the official Continental Navy. Called the Washington's Cruisers or Pine Tree flag, it was a symbol of the dependence they put on God for their cause.

We need to depend on God as we passionately call upon His favor.

"Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD."
Joel 1:14

* We need to pray for wisdom, good health, energy, and protection from spiritual attacks for all candidates and campaign staff.

* Pray for God's hedge of protection around candidates and their team.

* We need to pray for compassionate words and sound reasoning.

* We need to pray for fair and equitable coverage by the media.

* We need to pray for our fellow citizens of Illinois.

* Pray that first and foremost our neighbors would know the hope of salvation in Jesus Christ.

* Pray that the churches and disciples would be visible and active with the good news of salvation and compassionate acts of love and service.

* Pray that our neighbors would put their dependence on God and not Springfield.

* Pray that God would soften the hearts of our neighbors to hear our message.

* We need to pray that our own hearts would soften with compassion to seek to understand, then lovingly reason for life, freedom, liberty, and justice for all.

* We need to pray for integrity of current and running judges, senators, representatives, and leadership at all levels in the state of Illinois.

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21

This is a lot to consider. It is a lot to overcome in our state of Illinois. It is a lot to pray for, and this is why we need a sincere appeal to heaven!

I will be emailing routine prayer topics and devotionals as the campaign season moves forward.

“It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor.”
- George Washington, October 3, 1789

Lord, Jesus, our God,
You said "apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:15)

In faith we embrace Your words, Lord, and implore Your goodness. Help us to carry out the work we are about to begin, and bring it to completion.

Bless us as we begin this work. Enlighten our minds and strengthen our bodies. To You we give glory, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I pray You would awaken the Illinois citizen and raise up Godly leaders. I pray Your leaders on earth and all the saints would lead Illinois in repentance and revival. God bless Illinois! In Jesus Christ’s name I pray – Amen.
