Call to Prayer: 40 Days of Prayer. August 21, 2017




There is a lot of violence, division, and anger in America right now.

Alt-Left, AntiFa, KKK white supremacists, and Alt-Right.

Why? I think it is "Because the Church has been 'led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ' (2 Corinthians 11:2-4) and has become friends with the world and enemies of God (James 4:4-5)."

We need Christ!

"And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People? I have answered the call to 40 days of prayer.

On Monday [August 21, 2017] there will be a total eclipse of the sun exclusively over America, just as the Hebrew calendar enters a 40 day period of repentance corresponding to the period when God forgave the Hebrews for the sin of the Golden Calf at the foot of Mount Sinai. That begins with the first day of the thirty-day month of Elul and ends with a period called the Ten Days of Awe, the first through the tenth day of the month of Tishri. In Hebrew tradition, it is in this ten day period that God decides whether one’s name is written in the Book of Life or the Book of Death.


Many people are aware of the Biblical significance of a term of 40 days or years as a period of testing and preparation: Moses’ repentance and prayer for the Hebrews before they entered the Holy Land (Deuteronomy 9:18-29), Elijah’s spiritual preparation on the road to Mt. Horeb to meet God (1 Kings 19:7-18), Goliath’s testing of the armies of God before David arrived to slay him (1 Samuel 17:4-26), Jesus’ sojourn in the wilderness before launching His ministry (Matthew 4:1-17) are a few examples.(Attachment 1: Defend-the-Family-40-days-of-prayer-August-2017.pdf)

Day 2

Repent of coveting and jealousy.

Shout for joy, praise, and give thanks.

Day 6

Work hard, don't be like the lazy sluggard.

Day 7

Repent!

“If a man does not repent,

God will whet his sword;

he has prepared for him his deadly weapons, making his arrows fiery shafts.

Behold, the wicked man conceives evil and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies.

His mischief returns upon his own head, and on his own skull his violence descends.”

Day 8

Seek wisdom!
O God! Please grant my children wisdom.

“Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice?

"To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man. O simple ones, learn prudence; O fools, learn sense.

Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her. "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.

Day 9

Justice will come to unjust leaders of the nations.

“The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught. The Lord has made himself known; he has executed judgment; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Higgaion. Selah

The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God.

For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.

Arise, O Lord! Let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before you! Put them in fear, O Lord!

Day 10

Trust in the Lord, don't follow the way of fools.

“Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!

I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."

As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!”

There is hope in God because He forgives sins and redeems us.

“If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;

Day 11

Walk in the way of integrity, and do not be cut off with the evil.

“I will sing of steadfast love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will make music.

I will ponder the way that is blameless. Oh when will you come to me?

I will walk with integrity of heart within my house;

A perverse heart shall be far from me; I will know nothing of evil.

Morning by morning I will destroy all the wicked in the land, cutting off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.”

Day 12

Why worry? Hope in God!

"Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?

Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”

Our life is short, but God is eternal.

“My days are like an evening shadow; I wither away like grass.

But you, O Lord, are enthroned forever; you are remembered throughout all generations.

Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end. Day 13

God's love is great.

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.

Day 15

Seek the Lord.

Trust the Lord and do not trust in idols.

Day 16

God is our fortress!

Day 17

When people call evil deeds good, and good deeds evil, it is an abomination to the Lord. Sadly, this is happening too often in America today.

But we can still have joy in the God of our salvation.

“He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord.

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Day 18

God's way is perfect! His word is true!

“This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?—

He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great.

Day 21

How awesome is God!

Trust in God. Do not become dependent on government.

Constitution Day

Day 29

Pray for righteous, wise and just leaders. Seek the Lord for justice.

“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked.

Many seek the face of a ruler, but it is from the Lord that a man gets justice.”

Day 30

God's word is true. Pray for a modest life that does not tempt you away from the Lord.

“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

Remove far from me falsehood and lying;

give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, "Who is the Lord?" or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.

If you have been foolish, exalting yourself, or if you have been devising evil, put your hand on your mouth.”

Proverbs 30:5-6, 8-9, 18, 32 ESV

Day 31

Walk in the law of the Lord, seek Him with your whole heart; store up God's word in your heart.
I pray for desire and love for God's word.

“Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!

Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently.

How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes!

I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.

Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors.

Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works.

Let your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your promise; then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word.

I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame, for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love.

Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.

My soul longs for your salvation; I hope in your word.

Day 32

Resist the devil and temptations of selfish desires.
Satan is a liar, don't believe his lies.
You are a child of The Most High God!
He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world!

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

1 Peter 5:8-10 ESV

Day 33

Jesus! Oh what a joy to know our God and Savior!

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church.

He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.

For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

Day 34

Come Lord Jesus, Maranatha!

“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.

And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 ESV

Day 35

Be hard working and depend on no one but God.

Sadly a growing number of Americans do not want to work and earn a living. They demand that the false god of government provide income, housing, food, and health care. But, making yourself dependent on the government is to make yourself a subject to the ruling elite. Or in other words, slaves to a master.

“and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs,

and to work with your hands, as we instructed you,

so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.”

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 ESV

Day 36

Pray for God's grace to live self-controlled, upright, and Godly lives.

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.”

Titus 2:11-14 ESV

Day 37

Oh praise God!
For He came to us as a man, the "radiance of the glory of God" who "upholds the universe by the word of his power."
What a wonderful powerful name it is - JESUS

Thank you, God, for giving us faith. Renew our faith day by day.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

For by it the people of old received their commendation.

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king's edict.

Day 40

Praise God for mercy, salvation, and living hope in Jesus Christ!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!

According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."” ...
