No King but Jesus! One Nation Under God!

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it,

Our Heritage. . . lest we forget!

It’s not uncommon to hear that America is heading in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, most modern day leaders have no moral compass with which to redirect our course!

“We are in decline concerning freedom as a direct result of turning away from the cry of the revolution ‘No king but Jesus’, to a humanistic cry of ‘No king but self’.” (Berman)

Bishop Galloway wrote in his series of lectures titled Christianity and the American Commonwealth, in 1898, “A nation ashamed of its ancestry will be despised by its posterity” (5). I have to ask the question, is this why there are so many “blame America first” politicians, advocates, and journalists? Have we reached the point that current generations despise America because of the shame being aimed at our Christian heritage?

I feel that it is imperative for our great nation to acknowledge and embrace our Christian heritage. It is in no way meant to advocate for a theocracy (church controlled government) any more than our founding documents did, but it is essential to understand where our government came from, and on what principles it was founded. If we forget, we will lose it! We are headed for total (atheistic) secularization. Whether it results in some form of socialism, communism or some hybrid there of, it will mean the end of liberal and representative government. Dr. Galloway cautions, “Political atheism will inevitably produce political anarchy” (13).

I pray God would awaken the American citizen and raise up Godly leaders. I pray Christ’s leaders on earth and all the saints would lead America in repentance and revival. I pray there would be no King but Jesus. God bless America! In Jesus Christ’s name I pray – Amen.
