American Providence – A story of George Washington

I would like to share a story of George Washington, as told by David Barton of WallBuilders ministry, “that once appeared in virtually every student text in America, but hasn’t been seen in the last forty years.”

This story deals with George Washington when he was involved in the French and Indian War as a young man only twenty-three years of age.

Self-Discipline, Self-Control

"If you don't have self-discipline, then someone else will discipline you."
Gary North, Ron Paul Curriculum

"A man without self-control
is like a city broken into and left without walls."
Proverbs 25:28

"A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back."
Proverbs 29:11

"22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23

Education: Accreditation?

Accreditation: Should We Seek It from the State?

The question of accreditation has come up, especially in Christian circles, for about seventy years.

One of the most important marks of the complete surrender of Christians and libertarians to the state is the desire for academic accreditation.

Ask these questions:

1. Accredited by whom?
2. By whose authority?
3. By what standard?
4. Enforced by what sanctions?
5. Gaining what advantage?

February - Saint Valentine

Saint Valentine, or Valentinus, has an important story to share with us today!

Saint Valentine was executed for refusing to deny his faith after being arrested for secretly marrying Roman soldiers to their brides, defying an order from Emperor Claudius II that soldiers were not to marry.

Property Rights: LaVoy Finicum executed by the FBI

[latest update: 2016-12-31]

January 26, 2016. Another sad day for America.

Western states ranchers and freemen were protesting federal government (mis)management of State's land (Ref. 3). No burning, no looting, no riots in the streets like Ferguson, Boston, or Occupy Wall Street. Yet, the FBI (aka Federal Bureau of Intimidation, aka Red Coats, aka Storm Troopers), has arrested the leadership, wounded one, and killed one!

Once again the FBI is being used as the Hammer of Oppression. (Ref. 1, 2)

Robert LaVoy Finicum

Executed by the Storm Troopers (FBI) January 26, 2016.

Science: Mythical Ape-Man or Neanderthal man

Who has seen neanderthal man? No one. It's not science. It's not observable. It's a myth.

But what about Piltdown man?

The most famous example of an apeman proven to be a combination of ape and human bones is Piltdown man. In 1912, Charles Dawson, a medical doctor and an amateur paleontologist, discovered a mandible (lower jawbone) and part of a skull in a gravel pit near Piltdown, England. The jawbone was apelike, but had teeth that showed wear similar to the human pattern. The skull, on the other hand, was very humanlike. These two specimens were combined to form what was called “Dawn man,” which was calculated to be 500,000 years old.

The whole thing turned out to be an elaborate hoax.

Prayer (t): Call to God - Jeremiah 33:3

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
Jeremiah 33:3

Lord,
You have asked us to call to You, with the promise that You will answer when we do. We humbly seek Your guidance for [the State of Illinois]. Give us wisdom so that we will be a people guided by Your Spirit and filled with Your presence. Help us, O Lord, to honor You in word and deed, that we as a people will have Your blessing and favor. Education: Conservative Perspective Abolish the Department of Education - 2017

Excerpts on Education from "A More American Conservatism" Imprimis, December 2016, Volume 45, Number 12, by Larry P. Arnn, https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/a-more-american-conservatism/ My bold highlights.

"Trump has called for the abolition of the Department of Education, as did Reagan. By contrast, both Presidents Bush sought to strengthen that Department. Trump has nominated the splendid Betsy DeVos to be secretary of the Department, and she is a fighter for every kind of school choice. The federal government spends seven or eight percent of its money on education, and its method is typical of the federal intrusion into local matters: it gives money from the federal treasury to states and localities on condition. The conditions are myriad, confusing, and usually ugly when they can be understood. Title IV of the Higher Education Act governs federal student aid, and it numbers around 500 pages. A lawyer for our college told me once that I would be unable to read it, because he himself cannot read it, for which reason his firm keeps a specialist who is the only person he knows who understands what it says. For this reason alone, it would be a grand thing to get rid of the Department of Education.

Prayer (c): Happy New Year! Now, let's get to work!

Limited government works when the citizens are self-governing. "Only a virtuous people," declared Benjamin Franklin, "are capable of freedom." (1)

"Grassroots" is a term meaning to start from the ground up. Subsidiarity is a technical term for efforts to keep governance as local as possible. Starting with self-governance, family governance, church, neighborhood... on up to city, state, and so on. (2)
