00 Washington's Cruisers and the Pine Tree Flag

"The Washington Cruisers Flag was flown from seven ships outfitted by George Washington personally to aid in his attempt to drive the British from New England. These ships were sailing before the Continental Navy was formed by Congress in late 1775, making them the de facto first Navy of the United States. The idea to use this flag apparently came from Colonel Joseph Reed, an aide to General Washington." (1)

October 31 - Reformation Day

Be a light of the Grace and Truth of Jesus Christ in the darkness!

[Jesus] also said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket or under a bed? Isn’t it to be put on a lampstand? For nothing is concealed except to be revealed, and nothing hidden except to come to light. If anyone has ears to hear, he should listen!”
(Mark 4:21-29)

Scripture is the source of truth, not traditions of men.

03 Bill of Rights

"Constitution signer John Dickinson, like many of the others in his day, defined an inalienable right as a right 'which God gave to you and which no inferior power has a right to take away.' Our Founders believed that it was the duty of government to protect inalienable, or God-granted, rights from encroachment or usurpation.
David Barton, "The Second Amendment"

Bill of Rights

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

01 Family Safety and Security

Our Family’s Safety and Security
[excerpted from The Dobra Family Mission 2010 Revision]

Our King, Jesus, warns us that until His return we live in a cursed world and that we will have to face disaster.

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Matthew 24:6-7

New Life: Ephesians 4:17-24

No longer have "futile," pointless or useless, thinking like unbelievers. (4:17)

The truth is in Jesus. (4:21)

Take off deceitful desires. (4:22)

Put on righteousness and purity of truth. (4:24)

Cry Out America! 9-11-2001

Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.
Joel 1:14

On this day may we fully awaken and return to the Lord. God prescribed in Joel 1:14 how we are to return, we are to “Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.” In obedience to the Lord, we have gathered here on this occasion to do exactly that.

Purity: enter the narrow gate

Purity: free of that which spoils.
"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

You have eternal value as God's creation. So valuable, in fact, that God sent Jesus to die for your sins.

But be warned, the world will try and devalue you by spoiling your purity.

Hope: Christ in you, the hope of glory!

I was feeling great sorrow and distress over the turmoil in our nation and world. It is obvious God has been pulling away as we have been pushing him out. The acts of terror, racial and police violence, and political uncertainty and division.

But, Christ is in me, the hope of glory! (Colossians 1:27)

In my Scripture reading and meditation today:

1. I prayed from the Psalms "I am weary from grief; strengthen me through Your word." (Psalm 119:28)

Virtue: Ordinary Virtues from "The Lord of the Rings" part 1

Virtue: Moral Goodness. Moral excellence; righteousness.

"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good."
Romans 12:9

Simplicity

Think of Frodo and the simple contentment of the Hobbits. (1)

Contentment: choosing, in faith, satisfaction with one's situation (2)
